Wax Melon Recipe
When winter comes, the wax melon recipe becomes very delicious. If you have never tried wax melon curry, then today's recipe is for you because it is a very tasty dish. This recipe enhances the flavor even more in winter compared to the summer season. You can make a wax melon dish anytime, but I personally enjoy it more in winter. This wax melon recipe takes less than an hour to prepare—about 40 minutes. It is very easy to cook.

Ingredients:

  1. Wax melon – 500 grams

  2. Two medium-sized potatoes

  3. Two medium-sized onions

  4. Four green chilies

  5. One spoon of ginger paste

  6. One spoon of cumin paste

  7. A pinch of whole cumin seeds and two bay leaves

  8. 50 grams of soybean oil

  9. A pinch of salt

  10. A generous amount of turmeric

Directions:

Step One:
Cut the wax melon and potatoes into small pieces. Keep the wax melon pieces slightly larger than the potatoes, or keep them the same size—either way is fine. I haven't shown how to cut the potatoes and wax melon, but it's a simple task. If you have any difficulties, let me know.

Step Two:
Boil two cups of water on the stove. Add a pinch of salt and turmeric to the hot water. Once the water is hot, add the chopped wax melon and potatoes and cook until about 20% done. Then, pour them into a colander and drain the water.

Step Three:
Place a pan on the stove and heat the oil. Add a pinch of cumin seeds and two bay leaves to the hot oil. Fry the cumin seeds and bay leaves for about 30 to 40 seconds.

Step Four:
Add the chopped onions and chilies. I didn’t show how to chop the onions and chilies, but you can do it while cutting the wax melon and potatoes. Fry the onions and chilies for 6 to 7 minutes until golden brown.

Step Five:
Now add the ginger-cumin paste along with the required amount of salt and turmeric. Fry the spices for another 6 to 7 minutes. When the oil separates from the spices, you will know they are well cooked.

Step Six:
Add the boiled wax melon and potatoes and cook for 5 minutes. Stir frequently with a spatula to prevent burning.

Step Seven:
Add two cups of hot water. Cold water will work, but warm water is best. Boil for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, check the salt. If everything is fine, remove the dish from the stove.

Your wax melon recipe is now ready to serve. It tastes best with white rice. Visit this page to see the recipe for fried wax melon.
